Native Plant Cost-Share

In March 2022, Louisville Metro Council passed a Revised Weeds Ordinance that allows residents to maintain “managed natural landscapes”. This revision to the existing land code is a promising step forward in developing biodiversity throughout the city and normalizing a more natural aesthetic in our green spaces.

To support the Revised Weeds Ordinance, we have created a cost-share program to help amplify greenscapes in Louisville by reimbursing up to 80% (max $100) of the costs associated to create native gardens.

Individuals, community centers, community gardens, schools, non-profits, and businesses are all eligible. Both novice and seasoned gardeners are encouraged to apply. Applicant/organization must be located in Jefferson County.

Application window closed on March 29, 2024.

Native Plant Garden Signage

We’re giving away FREE signs that help designate your natural spaces as a native garden.

These signs are educational in addition to helping protect your growing landscape.

Whether you participated in the cost-share program or not, you can stop by our office and pick up a sign at no cost to you.
